Prosperity/Success Principles
OPT FOR SHORT WEDDING CEREMONY
10:04 PM
Philippine weddings nowadays are so expensive that it eats almost or all the money that the would-be couple should have saved.
Most weddings
usually come with elaborate celebrations. Wedding expenses includes full
entourage for the different parts of the ceremony: the ring, coin, Bible, veil,
cord, and then principal sponsors. Not mentioned
are expenses for bridal consultant or wedding planner (if
any), bridal shower invitations, gifts from guests, honeymoon, car rental, photographer,
and videographer.
I've attended both big weddings and small, fancy and frugal. While a
big, lavish wedding is exciting to attend, an economical, no frills wedding can
be equally intimate.
If you want to
turn your wedding into an elaborate ceremony decorations and a lavish reception
feast that’s fine. But what’s wrong with keeping it simple? Keeping the cost
down? Why start your marriage in weighted debt?
Most people are not discipline
enough to do this and will have a wedding that costs hundreds of thousands of pesos.
Months later, the couple might be having a problem on how to deal with the debt
resulting from the wedding.

Instead of planning an
expensive and luxurious wedding: plan for savings, family expenses, house, car,
and even kids. This is called conscious spending but, honestly, it’s
much easier to simply ignore these looming purchases and think about them
later. The problem is, if you don’t plan ahead, it becomes much, much more
expensive. Sit down and make a realistic budget of how much your big purchases
will cost you in the next ten years. Prioritization is such an important
concept.
Yes wedding is a once in a
lifetime event but being married is an event of a lifetime. Marriage ceremony
is just one piece of the cake. Why not keep it simple? Wedding celebrates you
coming together as a couple. Anniversaries celebrate you as a couple. When you put 10 or 20 years
under your belt, there’s a whole lot more to celebrate than just the fact you
found each other.
